Q: Is this the original game?
A: No. It is a new program that reads the original's data files and behaves
the way the original does. It contains none of the original's art, sound or
code, so you need your own copy.
Q: Where do I get the original?
A: From your own shelf, a second-hand shop, or anywhere that sells it legally.
Please don't ask us for it.
Q: How close is it to the real thing?
A: Very. The movement, the enemies, the doors, the scoring and the timings
were read out of the original program and compared with it running in DOSBox,
frame by frame where it mattered. Where the port does something the original
did not — the modern intro, Hard mode, the touch controls — it is
an option, and the original way is still there.
Q: Does it run on my computer?
A: If it can run LÖVE 11 it can run this: Windows, macOS, Linux and
Android. It is a 320×200 game at heart, so it is not demanding.
Q: Can I use my PlayStation / Xbox / Switch controller?
A: Yes. Plug it in, any time. Two controllers means two players.
Q: I started it and it says ORIGINAL GAME FILES NOT FOUND.
A: It shows you the folder it looked in. Copy your game's files there, or see
Installing.
Q: Is the source code available?
A: Details coming with the first release.
Q: Who made this?
A: A fan, with a copy of the game and a lot of patience.
Dalek Attack Regenerated is an unofficial, non-commercial fan project. It is a
reimplementation of the game engine only and contains no graphics, sound,
music or data from the original game: you need your own copy of
Dalek Attack (Admiral Software, 1992) to play it.
Doctor Who, the Daleks, the TARDIS and Davros belong to their respective owners,
including the BBC and the estate of Terry Nation. This project is not affiliated
with or endorsed by any of them.
